Jonny Willcox HEAD COACH

Jonny has been the Head Coach at Rutherglen LTC since 2015. He manages the coaching programme at the club and organises the partnerships in the local community which provide coaching in schools and community groups including our partnership with the McDonald’s Rutherglen franchise.

He also works with some of Scotland’s top juniors and is a Lead Coach in Tennis Scotland’s Performance Pathway and leads the West of Scotland County Programme.

Jonny was awarded Tennis Scotland & British Tennis Coach of the Year for 2016. This was largely down to his work with RLTC and working with junior performance players in the West of Scotland.

Jonny is delighted to be leading the coaching programme at RLTC and is committed to helping members grow, develop and have fun playing tennis and is your initial point of contact for any coaching related enquiries.

Susan Williamson LEAD COACH

Susan started coaching in 2013 and quickly demonstrated great aptitude and enthusiasm and achieved significant success in getting children started in tennis and having lots of fun. She was personally invited by Judy Murray to be one of the first coaches in the UK to deliver her exciting “Miss-Hits” programme aimed at getting young girls into tennis. Susan delivers the (exclusively indoor) “Miss-Hits” classes in Burnside and Castlemilk. Susan also set-up our extremely popular Tennis Tigers Club which runs on Thursday afternoons . Both Tennis Tigers and “Miss-Hits” act as excellent feeders into RLTC’s wider Mini-Tennis Programme as illustrated in our Junior Development Pathway.

Susan balances her coaching activities with her “day-job” as a Forensic Scientist with Police Scotland. She has represented Police Scotland in national tennis competitions whilst being a stalwart of RLTC’s Ladies Teams for the last 10 years.
